I’m not there yet, but I’m already on the path.

I am Amina, an only child. My dad, though not rich, does all he can to take very good care of us.

One fateful afternoon, I came from school to meet my dad’s lifeless body on the floor with his hands cut off from his shoulder. I picked up his lifeless hand and wrapped it in my arms while shrieking and crying. My dad is gone! I exclaimed.

My mother developed a partial stroke as she was already hypertensive. She began to age very fast and her health was receding. I couldn’t afford to lose two parents so I began cleaning jobs to put food on her table and buy her pills.

Years went by and at 23, I realized life had just been a rollercoaster. I suddenly realized I had developed a keen passion for photography. I saw an opening in a photo studio where I could learn photography for free while rendering cleaning services for them and I gladly obliged.

After two years, I left the place and began to edit pictures for people with my Android phone, since I couldn’t afford a camera or a laptop. The pictures weren’t too bad. A client one day was dissatisfied with the service I rendered. She said a lot of hateful and demeaning things. I felt so bad and ended my career in photography.

I was referred to a client for a cleaning job one afternoon. Lo and behold, it was Amazing Klef, a renowned photographer whom I revere. I wasted no time in sharing my story with him at the opportunity I got. He exposed to me the secrets to making it which are consistency and dedication.

There and then I decided that I was going to do all it takes to get there. I picked up my editing work and purchased a cheap camera on an installment basis, after several months of hard work. Just last month, I bought myself a laptop and I’m earning better with photography.

Life indeed throws us lemons. All we need to do is make lemonades out of them.
